First training on Power-to-X technologies in Tunisia
As part of the Tunisian-German Energy Partnership, the first training on Power-to-X was organized from 04 to 08 October 2021 in Tunis.
During the first day of the training, an introduction to recent international developments was presented. The focus of the second day was the hydrogen production process including an overview of electrolysis technologies and storage options. The possibilities of hydrogen transportation and the necessary infrastructure were the topic of the third day. The afternoon of the third day focused on economic aspects including component weighting, economy of scale and future cost evolution. During the fourth day, the experts focused on the use cases in Tunisia with the detailed presentation of the hydrogen atlas which addressed the potential of hydrogen production in Tunisia. During the last day of the training, the certification of green hydrogen as well as the sustainability criteria was presented. At the end of the last day, examples of roadmaps for the development of hydrogen were presented. This part allowed the participants to reflect on the Tunisian case and the process of generating a local roadmap.
The training was provided by experts from the Fraunhofer Institute IEE. Representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines (MIEM), the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME) and the Office of Merchant Marine and Ports (OMMP) participated in the training.
